Covenant

Having been led, as we believe, by the Spirit of God to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior, and on the profession of our faith, having been baptized in the name of the Father, and the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, we do now in the presence of God, angels, and this assembly, most solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with one another, as one body in Christ.

We shall, by the aid of the Holy Spirit, walk together in Christian love; strive for the strengthening of our Church as an effective witness to Jesus Christ in our changing society; promote its good and holy influence upon all people; sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline and doctrines;  be loyal to our church and its ministry; contribute willingly and systematically to the support of the total ministry of the church, including a fair proportion for all missionary outreach.

We shall maintain family and private devotions; educate our children in Christian ways; seek the salvation of our kindred and acquaintances; live peaceably in all our relations; be a Christian example in all our responsibilities; avoid all forms of unkind and unchristian behavior; always live in a fitting Christian manner so that others may be attracted to our Lord and Savior.

We shall watch over each other in Christian love; remember each other in prayer; aid each other in sickness and distress; cultivate Christian sympathy and courtesy in speech; be slow to take offense, but always ready for reconciliation, being mindful of the teachings of our Savior and to secure it without delay.

We shall, when we move from this place, unite with another Christian church as soon as possible, where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Word.
